What is Dear Jane? (Click on picture for a closer look)
In 1863, in the midst of civil war in the USA, a woman called Jane Stickle made a beautiful sampler quilt. The quilt was handed down through her family, and is now in the Bennington Museum in Vermont.

(Out of respect for Brenda's work, I am adding "®" after "Dear Jane" on this page, to show it is her registered trademark).
The book does not contain detailed instructions on making the quilt, but it is still a fascinating read, with Brenda's "letters" to Jane as she works on the book bringing her experience to life. The book has now become one of the most popular quilt books in the world (over 14 reprints!). Along with a very helpful web site ( http://www.dearjane.com ), and now the Dear Jane® software and Dear Jane® Templates, a huge number of quilters around the world have made their own version of Jane's quilt, known as Baby Janes. With this book as your companion, you can join the growing group of quilt makers making this quilt or versions of it, whether from Civil War reproduction fabrics or from your own special favourites.
